Updates:
Hello everyone. Sorry that I'm a day late - yesterday was hectic...
We've only had one submission for critique this month so I'll add it to the list below. As per the rules, I'll also be keeping on all those from last month that don't seem to have gotten any feedback. If you have the chance, please read them and let the author know what you think - they'll be very grateful.
Contest is also still running for those who are interested - please read further for the rules!

Poetry Contest!
I figured that it was about time that we ran another contest. If you would like to take part, the rules are as follows:
1. Since the festive period is upon us, the theme this time is Warmth. Take that to mean however you wish - how you include this prompt in your work is entirely up to you.
2. You have exactly a month from today to submit your entries - submissions close at 12pm GMT on 24th December 2013 and then the judging will begin.
3. Submissions must be poems. Apologies to writers of prose - I intend to hold a flash fiction contest in the New Year to suit your needs.
4. Usual group rules still apply - i.e. no fan-fiction and flag your work if it contains mature themes.
5. Submissions must be made to the 'Contest Entry' folder in the gallery. Submissions made to any other folder will not be counted.
6. Only one submission per person please - make it your best work
7. The winner will be picked by myself after the end date - how soon after will depend on how many entries I have to read.
8. The winning piece will be displayed forever in our Featured Gallery for everyone to admire.
If you have any questions, please post below and I will be more than happy to answer. If not - may the odds be forever in your favor.

Villain Contest - Now Open!
Updates:
Hello everyone.
Firstly, I'm stopping running the critique service for a while as no one has submitted any work for this for a few months now. If any of you are interested in restarting this in the future, please let me know.
Secondly, I realised that it's been a while since our last contest so I thought it was about time we started a new one. As the rules of the last two contests have been fairly restrictive, I'm relaxing them a little bit for this one - let's just make it fun. For more information, read on!

Flash Fiction Contest - Winner Announced!
Updates:
Hi Everyone.
Apologies for the delay. I've read through the entries to the Flash Fiction contest and - although it was difficult - I have picked a winner.
Congratulations to SgtPossum (https://www.deviantart.com/sgtpossum) for their piece 'Emeralds in Ivory'. This has now been moved into our featured gallery where it will remain forever more.
Please don't be disheartened if you didn't win this time - there were lots of strong entries this time round. There will be more contests soon and so you'll have plenty more chances to win!
On a related note, if you have an idea for a contest (or would like to offer a prize for one beyond our standard 'space in the featured
Flash Fiction Contest is Closed!
Updates:
Hi Everyone.
The Flash Fiction Contest is now closed for judging. Thank-you to everyone who entered - it was far more popular than I was expecting and it looks like we have a lot of high quality entries.
It's going to be tough to pick just one winner but I will aim to read through all the entries over the next week and let you know when I've come to a decision.
If you want to read the entries yourself (and I strongly advise that you do), here they are:

Contest Reminder and February Journal Showcase
Updates:
Hello everyone.
There is still ten days to get your entry in for the Flash Fiction contest. There have been some great submissions already so it's going to be very hard to judge. If you're interested, you can find the rules further down this post.
On an unrelated note, the group did not receive any submissions for the Journal Showcase this month so I just thought I'd remind you of this feature.
Every month, members are free to send in a single piece of their work that they want constructive feedback on. I post a list of these in the Journal on the first of each month so that other members can read them and give their critique.
